What to do in Salt Lake

Boredom is not an option!

There are so many great things to do in Utah.
Here are a few of our favorite adventures.

Temple Square

Temple Square Info
Picture
Temple Square is a MUST when you are visiting Salt Lake. Even as residents, we visit temple square a few times each year to enjoy the beauty of this historic LDS temple. Depending on the season, you might find some extra treats, such as tulips in April and Christmas lights during December. While you can't enter the temple unless you are a member of the LDS church and have a current temple recommend, feel free to enter the visitor center or the historic tabernacle and talk to the friendly sister missionaries about the significance of the temple.

Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point (in April and May)

Picture
There is no better way to welcome spring than by going to the Tulip Festival. The Thanksgiving Point gardeners really know how to put on a show as you walk through acres of beautiful, festive flowers. By the amphitheater, they have a row of food trucks, face painting, and quaint craft booths. If you're not up for walking, rent a golf cart. Don't forget to bring your camera to this one.

Jazz Game (Basketball)

Picture
My inner sports fan has blossomed under Andrew's tutoring. (Although I still can't convince myself to love the slow sport of soccer, much to Andrew's chagrin). Basketball, however is a sport I can get into, especially when we are at an actual game. If you are looking for a good team to cheer on, go to a Jazz game.

Utah Symphony

Utah Symphony
We don't go to the symphony often, but we have one cool Christmas tradition brought to us solely through the symphany. Every year around Christmas, they choose a movie that they will play the score to. You get to sit and watch the flick while the symphany plays all the beautiful music that helps make the movie what it is. IT IS AWESOME! Last year (2015) we saw Home Alone. This year (and for the next 7 years, they have started with the Harry Potter series. It is so cool. Classy yet fun and entertaining.

Bonfire in the Mountains

We love the mountains. Not only do they create a beautiful backdrop to our everyday lives, but they also are so close so that we can easily explore them and enjoy nature. One easy thing we love to do in the mountains is have a bonfire. So get the hot dogs, marshmallows, and roasting sticks ready and go visit almost any canyon. Our personal favorites are up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
