In this, our first year of marriage, Andrew and I are definitely living it up. Since we are a little older, we don't want to wait a long time to get pregnant and start a family. However, we also don't want to rob ourselves of the opportunity to go out just as a couple and get to know each other better in different environments. So we really have been trying to do everything and go everywhere :) Let's review some of the things we have been able to do lately: Jazz Game- Oct 28I'm really not a huge sports person, but I have to admit that once you put me in the right environment and with the right people, my inner sports fan lets loose. Last night we went to the opening home game with the Jazz against the Lakers. They gave us these foam light-up sticks as we entered (bad idea, since I saw them as drum sticks and assaulted Andrew through nearly the entire game). It was a close game, so that made it even more exciting near the end. And yes, the Jazz did win :) Jackson Hole and Yellowstone- Oct 20-23For Fall Break, we decided to visit Jackson Hole. Andrew had never been to Yellowstone (I have), and I had never been hiking around Lake Jenny (Andrew had). It was a fun adventure, but I will say that I will never go back during the months of October and/or November. It is a weird in-between season; summer activities are closed (like horse-back riding, visitor's centers in Yellowstone, or the arial tram lookout), and winter activities are still not available (like dog-sledding or skiing). This weird off-season did mean that there were not a lot of crowds around, so that was nice. Still, we felt like day 3 there was less eventful than we had hoped. Day 1: We explored Yellowstone, hiked around the hot-pots and geysers, saw Old Faithful go off, spotted many buffalo and deer (no moose or bears), Day 2: We went to Lake Jenny, right by the beautiful Teton Mountains. Unfortunately, the hike to the hidden water fall was closed, but we found another hike close by. Day 3: We drove around, but didn't really find any new adventures, so we headed back to our hotel for a nap. Then we walked around downtown Jackson Hole and explored the little shops and art galleries. Mama Visited!- Oct 14-16So this part of the post isn't really about adventures Andrew and I have had. Instead, it is about a very insightful mother who could recognize that I was a little homesick and spontaneously decided to hop on a plane and visit me for a weekend. Yep, that's right, I have the most amazing mom in the world. Andrew had an over-night activity with the Young Men in our ward, so Mom and I were able to go out for dinner and shopping and a movie. We chatted and laughed, and I loved every minute of it. I definitely cried again when she left, but I was comforted by the fact that in about a month we will be in California for my little brother's wedding so I will get to spend more time with her then. Sometimes a mama hug is perfect remedy. (And.....a big Happy Birthday shout out to my mom who just turned the big Five Zero! Woot Woot!!) Halloween Celebrations- Oct 29To end it all, tonight was our ward Halloween Party.
The Halloween Party is always put on by the Young Women and Young Men of our ward. Since both Andrew and I have callings in those organizations, we were in charge of setting it all up and helping out with the games. I thought the party turned out pretty good, and lots of people complimented us on our party execution at the end. The young men and women worked hard at the various games (we had pumpkin bowling, fishing, bean-bag toss, pin the spider on the web, a cake walk, face painting, and a coloring station). Andrew and I had a lot of fun dressing as old people. We had quite a few friends walk past us without recognizing us (especially Andrew). I am glad that we are goofs together :)
